From traditional sources to medicines of the future Research and development of phytomedicines and phytogenic drugs

PhytoGeniX is a spin off contract research organization originating from University of Utrecht (Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy).
Research conducted by PhytoGeniX is focused on:

• Improvement and development of herbal medicinal products (phytomedicines)
• Activity-guided extraction and isolation procedures
• Discovery and characterization of biologically active (plant-derived) lead compounds for development into phytogenic drugs
• Assessment of activity of plant extracts and single compounds in an array of bio assays and in vivo models
• Qualitatively and quantitatively analysis of relevant constituents of medicinal plants and extracts
• providing a basis for the legislation of phytomedicines
